6. What emotions do you feel before you choose to masturbate? This may be a hard one (no pun intended). Addiction forms a routine, a cycle that one enters into often without thinking. Noticing what you feel before you enter your cycle helps you spot when you are most vulnerable.

7. Do you watch porn while masturbating? They typically go hand in hand. Looking at pornography adds to the strength an addiction can have because the pics can be recalled at a later time to give excitement.

8. Do you have sexual relations with your spouse? If so, do you still masturbate despite this? Examining the your relationship is often a good first step. Masturbation is typically a symptom of other problems. Are you open with others? Are you connecting well?

9. What do you believe about masturbation? Is it okay? Is it healthy? Could it be harmful? Is it a sin or a weakness? Sometimes you can uncover these answers by asking yourself is it leading you to where you want to go? Your beliefs play a core part of your addiction. Evaluate your beliefs by looking inside and asking questions.
